How to set up email authentication for Shift4Shop.

Updated over 5 months ago
Supports SPF alignment: Yes (dedicated subdomain)
Supports DKIM alignment: Yes

DMARC requires the domain in the “From” address of the email (what the recipient sees) to match the information authenticated by SPF or DKIM. This is called DMARC alignment.

Certain email service providers require bulk email-sending domains to authenticate their emails with both SPF and DKIM, in addition to configuring one of these authentication methods for DMARC alignment. You can read more about these bulk sender requirements here.

Configure email authentication for Shift4Shop

To start setting up email authentication, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Shift4Shop Online Store Manager

  2. Using the left-hand navigation menu, go to Modules

  3. Once you're on the Modules page, use the search bar at the top to search for "DKIM" and bring up the module.

  4. Place a mark in the "Enable" checkbox and click "Save" at the top right of the screen.

The above steps will add a special TXT record to your domain's DNS record which will act as its DKIM signature. You may have a look at the DNS entry that is created by using Shift4Shop's Manage DNS tool (also introduced in version 9).

If you are an Enforce or Align user and your domain's DKIM records are pointed to Valimail, follow the steps below to add these records to the domain configuration in Valimail.

Step 4. From above will be different, you will need to look at the DKIM DNS entry created by using Shift4Shop's Manage DNS tool, copy those records, and follow the final step below to publish the DKIM key in Valimail:

Publish the DKIM key record in Valimail following the steps from the article below.
