Welcome to Align! This guide will provide step-by-step instructions for setting up the DMARC reporting, preconfiguring senders in Align, and pointing the SPF and DKIM records to Valimail. After following these instructions, you can take advantage of the email authentication infrastructure and reporting capabilities that Align comes with.
We strongly recommend following the steps in the order shown below, to ensure that DMARC reporting is properly set up, and to avoid any issues with email authentication.
Onboarding Steps
1. Point the DMARC record to Valimail
By pointing your DMARC record to Valimail, you will gain visibility into who is sending emails on behalf of your domain. To point DMARC to us, follow one of these two guides:
Automate your DNS connection (certain DNS Hosts might not support this method)
2. Preconfigure the SPF and DKIM records for your sending services
This step is important for ensuring email authentication when you point the SPF and DKIM records to Valimail. Follow the video guide here to preconfigure the SPF and DKIM records for your sending services.
3. Point the SPF and DKIM records to Valimail
Pointing the SPF and DKIM records to Valimail will allow you to use our email authentication infrastructure, and gain access to features like the instant SPF technology and a platform to easily manage all of your DKIM records in one place. Point the records to Valimail by following the instructions from one of these two guides:

4. Use the Authentication Report to monitor the traffic on your domain
Monitor the DMARC, SPF, and DKIM pass rates for individual sending services, to identify possible issues with email authentication. Use the guide here to learn how to use the Authentication Report.
