How to set up DMARC for Blackboard Notifi in Valimail

Updated over a week ago
SPF(supported)
DKIM(recommended)

This article covers the SPF and DKIM authentication processes for Blackboard Notifi and how they are managed in Valimail. While only one of the two authentication methods is required for an email to pass DMARC, our recommendation is to configure both whenever possible.

Configuring DKIM authentication for your Blackboard Notifi emails

Verify Blackboard email authentication set up

Verify the Blackboard email authentication protocols are set up on your DNS properly.

  1. From the Blackboard Communications HQ interface menu, select Settings.

  2. Select Global Settings.

  3. Select Click here to improve your email delivery.

  4. Provide your school district's email domain. For example, if you use "[email protected]", type "myschool.edu".

  5. Select Verify.

When you see congratulation messages verifying records for SPF, DKIM, and DMARC, the verification is complete and everything is properly set up on your DNS. If you don't see congratulation messages for each one, have your network administrator set up the Blackboard email authentication protocols on your DNS.

Your network administrator may need to set up the Blackboard email authentication protocols on your DNS. If you aren't sure if this has been done, you can verify set up from Global Settings.

  1. From the Blackboard Communications HQ interface menu, select Settings.

  2. Select Global Settings.

  3. Select Click here to improve your email delivery.

  4. Select Click here for instructions on how to set up SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and IP whitelisting.

  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.

NOTE: If you manage DKIM and for your domain in Valimail, the 2 DKIM keys will need to be added on your domain's configuration page in the Valimail platform.
