How to set up DMARC for Votervoice in Valimail

Updated over 4 months ago
SPF(not supported)
DKIM(recommended)

This article covers the SPF and DKIM authentication processes for Votervoice and how they are managed in Valimail. While only one of the two authentication methods is required for an email to pass DMARC, our recommendation is to configure both whenever possible.

Votervoice does not support SPF alignment.

Configuring DKIM authentication for your Votervoice emails

Please follow the below instructions to set up a Votervoice DKIM for your domain:

1. Make a new 1024 bit public/private key pair. As part of the process of generating the key, you'll be specifying your association's domain and a selector of your choice. These keys should be unique for VoterVoice's use and not shared with other vendors.

You may have your own service that will generate this for you, but if you don't, here's a site that may help.

2. Using the public key domain and selector from the previous step, create a DKIM text record and publish on your DNS. After this step, you should have a public record that looks something like this: selector._domainkey.domain.

Note: If you manage the DKIM record for your domain in Valimail, you will need to add the Votervoice TXT DKIM key in your domain's Configuration page in Valimail Enforce.

3. Please contact VoterVoice support and provide them with the following:

  • RSA private key

  • domain

  • DKIM selector

Note: It can take about a business week to get your DKIM key added to the VoterVoice mail servers.

Once you establish that Votervoice is an authorized sender for your domain, you will need to add the service in your Enabled Senders.
