Learn about Smart Alerts

Updated yesterday

Smart Alerts are automated email notifications sent to account Owners when specific high-impact actions occur within an account. These alerts provide visibility into important security and configuration changes, helping organizations quickly identify and respond to updates or potential risks.

For guidance on setting up configurable Alerts, please refer to the articles for Enforce, Monitor, or Align, depending on the product you are using.

When Smart Alerts Are Triggered

Smart Alerts are generated for the following actions:

  • MFA Personal-Level Updates
Triggered when Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) settings are updated for an individual user.

  • MFA Account-Level Updates
Triggered when MFA requirements or settings are changed at the account level.

  • SSO Updates
Triggered when Single Sign-On (SSO) configurations are modified.

  • Domain Added
Triggered when a new domain is added to the account.

  • Domain Deleted
Triggered when an existing domain is removed from the account.

  • Possible Internal Sender
Triggered when the system detects an unrecognized or unexpected internal sender.

Why Smart Alerts Matter

Smart Alerts ensure account Owners are immediately informed of any critical changes to account security, authentication methods, or domain configurations. This proactive notification system helps maintain the integrity of the email environment and supports rapid response to potential security concerns.

Best Practices

  • Review Smart Alerts promptly to validate whether the action was expected.

  • Investigate alerts related to Possible Internal Sender to ensure they are not signs of spoofing or unauthorized activity.

  • Use MFA and SSO updates as checkpoints to confirm alignment with your organization’s security policies.
