How to set up DMARC for Double the Donation in Valimail

Updated over a week ago
SPF(supported)
DKIM(recommended)

This article covers the SPF and DKIM authentication processes for Double the Donation and how they are managed in Valimail. While only one of the two authentication methods is required for an email to pass DMARC, our recommendation is to configure both whenever possible.

Configuring DKIM authentication for your Double the Donation emails

1. Open two browser tabs. In the first tab, log in to your DNS Provider and navigate to the Advanced DNS Settings. Look for the option to add CNAME records. In the example below, all DNS record types are displayed together. Your DNS provider may show each record type (A, CNAME, TXT, etc.) in a separate section; if this is the case, find the section for CNAME records. Add a new record by clicking Add (Add Record, Create new record, etc).

2. In the second browser tab, log in to 360MatchPro.

3. In your 360MatchPro account, navigate to Email Customization --> Sending.

4. Under the From Email Address box, enter the email address for your organization's domain where you'd like emails to come from. (ie. [email protected]). Then click "Save Email Settings.

Optional: Reply-To Email Address

If you want replies from donors to go to an inbox other than the email address you've listed as the From Email address, you have the option to enter a Reply-To email address. Make sure to click "Save Email Settings" for any entries to apply. Then click "Save Email Settings."

5. In the DNS Setup Table, there are three CNAME records. Copy the first value from the Hostname column, switch to the browser tab containing your DNS settings, and paste it into the corresponding field in your DNS provider account. Some DNS providers will refer to Hostnames as Aliases.

NOTE: If you manage you domain in Valimail, you will need to add the 2 CNAME DKIM keys on your domain's configuration page in the Valimail platform and 3rd CNAME plus any additional records will need to be added in your DNS.

6. Switch back to your 360MatchPro browser tab. For the same record, copy the value in the Should Point To column. Back in your DNS browser window, to paste into the corresponding field in your DNS provider account.

7. Complete these steps for all three CNAME records in your 360MatchPro, then Save your changes in your DNS provider account.
