How to set up DMARC for platform.sh in Valimail

Updated over 6 months ago
SPF(supported) (dedicated subdomain)
DKIM(recommended)

This article covers the SPF and DKIM authentication processes for platform.sh and how they are managed in Valimail. Because this service leverages Sendgrid's email infrastructure, it requires additions to your DNS records outside of the Valimail platform. Adding platform.sh as an authorized sender in the Valimail platform usually requires a dedicated subdomain to be pointed to the Sendgrid infrastructure and typically the DKIM keys will be added in the Valimail platform.

Configuring DKIM authentication for your platform.sh emails

You can turn on outgoing email for each environment. By default, email is turned on for your Production environment and blocked for other environments.

To turn it on for a specific environment, follow these steps:

  1. Select the project with the given environment.

  2. From the Environment menu, select the environment.

  3. Click Settings.

  4. In the row with Outgoing emails, click Edit.

  5. Select the Email sending checkbox.

Note: If you’re on an Enterprise or Elite plan, you can request for DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) to be enabled on your domain.

  1. Open a support ticket with the domain where you want DKIM.

  2. Update your DNS configuration with the CNAME and TXT records that you get in the ticket.

NOTE: If you manage you domain in Valimail, you will need to add the 2 CNAME DKIM keys on your domain's configuration page in the Valimail platform and the 3rd CNAME and TXT record will go in your DNS.
